Project title:
BE DIGI, BE ECO, BE IN
(Modern Technologies and Sustainable Development as the Key to Saving Earth)
Project number: 2021-1-CZ01-KA220-SCH-000027739
Lithuania, from 3nd October to 7th October 2022 in Radviliškis

The trip to Lithuania as part of the Be digi, be eco, be in project was very interesting. It was na oppotunity to be to an Eastern European country before and it was a unique experience to be able to get in touch with people from cultures very different from our own and to be able to meet people from countries other than Portugal. Throughout the week we did some activities that helped us on various levels, such as a group activity in which each group presented some of the 17 sustainable development goals, which helped us to develop our English and to create more bonds with the people in each group and the other groups, and to think of better and more creative ways of achieving the sustainability goals. We also did other types of activities throughout the week, such as field activities in which we collected samples of living things in a swamp and analyzed them, which contributed to my scientific and general knowledge.

Italy, from 20th to 24th March 2023 at Liceo Giordano Bruno, Torino

This was a LTTTA where the students worked in international teams and teachers from each school were also involved. Among the different activities of the week, the visit to Saint Barthèlemy Astronomical Observatory in Val d'Aosta was very exciting, because was related to environmental protection and observation of climate change. We participated in three types of activities: workshop focusing on the observation of light pollution; the sky and constellations related to the myths of the ancient Greeks; and the examination of microscopically observable artefacts testifying to the interconnection between space and the earth.

Romania, from 8th October to 13th October 2023 at Scoala profesionala “Tiberiu Morariu” in Salva

The mobility to Romania was another incredible experience, being able to reconnect with some of the friends we had made on other mobilities and being involved in a different culture. For this mobility we had prepared a presentation in which each country talked about what they were doing in their school in order to make it as sustainable as possible. This helps us to have a broad vision of what we can do more of in our school compared to other schools, but also about practices we could do on a daily basis to improve this. In addition, we did a peddy paper throughout the week, with mixed groups in which we presented at the end of the week everything we had done and what we had liked the most, which allowed us to improve our English and get to know the other students and their cultures better.

Portugal, from 26th February to 1st March 2024 at Agrupamento de Escolas de Pinheiro, Penafiel,

In Portugal, as part of this project and sustainability, students from the surrounding countries and some Portuguese students visited the University of Trás-dos-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) and did activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals, in which the students should get the 17 goals interconnected, so that ways were found to achieve the objectives but linking them to each other. Also, within the topic of sustainable development of the landscape and also protection of natural biodiversity and disappearing wildlife around us, we visit Vila do Conde Coastal Regional Protected Landscape and Mindelo Ornithological Reserve. As part of the excursion, groups of students focused on biodiversity in nature. They watched different species of local fauna and flora in their natural habitat, and learnt what threats they might face without protection. We also took part in a discussion on sustainable tourism focusing on a responsible ecological approach. Within the topic of sustainable development and issue of waste, we also visited the Lipor landfill, where we learned about some of the sustainability issues promoted by this institution and modern technologies to help recycle waste. We learned how to separate waste properly, and how to deal with it later and what can be made from each type of recycled waste. We also considered how to recycle assigned types of waste (plastic, glass, paper, metal) and learned some ecological methods of energy production and waste disposal and the possibilities of sustainable landscape development.

Czech Republic, from 14th October to 18th October, Gymnázium Josefa Božka, Český Těšín

In the mobility to the Czech Republic, we were able to meet new friends. On this trip we were able to get to know a new country. Throughout the week we did activities such as going to Hyundai's only production plant in Europe, but also having a lecture on the different applications of geoinformatics in our daily lives, which helped us to enrich our general culture and learn something that we didn't realize was so useful. We also visited an old coal production plant in Ostrava, which was a very good experience and one we would repeat as it was very enriching.
